Pick a random winner from an Excel spreadsheet

An Excel winner picker draws a random row from a spreadsheet without formulas like RAND() or RANDBETWEEN(). Upload an .xlsx or .xls file, choose the sheet and the column to draw from, and the tool cleans the list and picks winners with a verifiable seed. The workbook is opened in your browser and never leaves your device.

Works with Mailchimp, MailerLite, Google Sheets and Excel exports. Up to 10 MB.

Your file is read in this browser tab and is never uploaded.

How to pick a winner from Excel

  1. 1Keep your entries in an .xlsx or .xls workbook, one entry per row.
  2. 2Drop the file into the picker above. If the workbook has several sheets, choose the one that holds your list.
  3. 3Choose the column to show winners as and the column that makes an entry unique.
  4. 4Keep the clean-up options on to remove blank rows, invalid emails and duplicates.
  5. 5Choose the number of winners, start the reveal and share the result link.

What people use it for

  • Giveaway entries collected in an Excel sheet
  • Microsoft Forms responses downloaded to Excel
  • Sales contests where each row has a ticket count
  • Raffle ticket registers

Why you can trust the result

The list is fingerprinted and stored before our server issues the random seed, so nobody can change the list after seeing the seed. Every draw gets a public result page that anyone can recompute.

How the draw works

Excel winner picker questions

Why not just use RAND() in Excel?

RAND() recalculates every time the sheet changes, leaves no record of the result and gives participants nothing to check. Here the winner is fixed by a seed issued after your list's fingerprint is stored, and the public result page lets anyone recompute it.

Does it work with workbooks that have several sheets?

Yes. When a workbook has more than one sheet, you choose which sheet holds the list before drawing.

Is my spreadsheet uploaded?

No. The workbook is opened inside your browser tab. Only the list fingerprint, counts, settings and winners (with emails masked) are stored for the result page.

What is the file size limit?

Up to 10 MB per file. For a very large workbook, save the sheet with your list as a CSV and upload that instead.
